A Word of Apprehension

Please accept my apologies for the screen name: Kava Kid. I'm neither a kid nor do I have any connection to kava. So, from that standpoint, it's nonsensical and I can appreciate that. But I also feel silly.

Here's the deal... Several years ago I was invited to contribute to a different blog. I was interested, but had no account. So I signed up and then struggled to pick a suitable screen name. Eventually, nearing desperation, I looked around my work area for inspiration and found a bottle of Kava Kava herbal supplements. Actually, the more I think about this, maybe Kava Kid IS a name I can be happy with because it's a lark based on a lark. Second stage lark? By that I mean that I don't have any sort of history with Kava or even herbal supplements generally, so the purchase of the Kava was a lark which eventually beget the second lark of my screen name.

Surprisingly, I was just able to put my hands on the original bottle. GNC brand Fingerprinted Kava Kava Root, 500mg, batch dated 4/04. I still have 33 of the original 90 capsules.

I suppose it should also be said that Kava Kid isn't the first screen name based upon an object found on my desk. My AOL IM screen name is a derivative of MiGo which was inspired by my travel mug.

But seriously, what's the ideal screen name? On the one hand, you don't want to throw your full name around the internet but, on the other hand, you don't something so sterile as a string of digits like the old CompuServe accounts.
